It’s
official! Kitesurfing has been granted Recognised Sports
status by the Combined Services Sports Board. This is
fantastic news for club members as it will allow travel
costs to events to be claimed back, increased funding for
kit and more. A big thanks to the RAF for putting in the
submission that kicked it all off.

It’s
starting to get cold out there on the water now. So why not
book yourself in for some winter sun and kiting? The Army
are running a kitesurfing exped to the Canary Islands in
February and there are spaces available -

due to the poor wind forecast. That’s the nature of the
sport unfortunately! A huge thanks to Jim for pulling the

The
RNRMKA’s biggest event so far!!! The Cornish beginner’s
event saw some 30 Sailors and Marines out kiting or
learning the basics this weekend. With wind both days
(unfortunately too much for taster sessions on Sunday) 8
newcomers got a fantastic introduction to the sport and
regular club members had two solid days of riding. A big
thanks to Chris for the organisation, Loz from
OceanHigh
for the great instruction and all those who helped out with
teaching. The first images can be found

Poole Beginners Weekend has been cancelled. Having looked
at the weather forecast for the weekend and in consultation
with
Xtremes
we have reluctantly decided that this weekend is to be
postponed. The plan is to re-schedule for Oct 11 so keep an
eye on the
events page
for new dates.

Royal reign supreme at the RNRMKA championships!
DCINC, fresh off the water from receiving kite surfing
instruction, presents the RNRM Championships Shield to
Scully and the rest of the RM riders last Saturday. The
standard of riding throughout has risen noticeably since
last year’s event and long may the trend continue if we are
to retain the Inter-Services
Crown later
in the year.

The water is getting warmer, there is wind and even some
sun on occasion - can’t be bad. Whether you are dusting off
your kit after the winter or haven’t stopped all year no
harm in a quick read of the new RNRMKA Code of
Conduct.
The 2011 RNRMKA Championships and AGM are nearly here!!!
Come and join us from 3-5 Jun 11 for a weekend on the
water. Remember all events are open to all riders, whatever
your ability, just come along and join in. Families are
also more than welcome - the more the merrier! For more

BIG
NEWS!
Vice Admiral G M Zambellas DSC, Deputy Commander in Chief
Fleet (DCinC), has very kindly accepted the role of
president of the RNRMKA. This is a big deal for the
association as it means we have support at the highest
level in the Royal Navy. The RNRMKA is going from strength
to strength and this puts us one step closer to achieving
recognised status in 2011.

HAPPY
NEW YEAR!
2011 is nearly a month old already and whilst the wind
hasn't been great (and lets face it the sea ain't that warm
either) stuff is happening behind the scenes. The first
thing you'll notice is our new logo which will be available
on a variety of merchandise later this year. The second
thing is that this year is shaping up to be our biggest
yet. Great events are being planned and capping it off we
have the Tri-Service crown to defend in late October.
Remember all events are open to club members whatever
your ability and families are always welcome to join us.

Falklands earlier in the month - sweet (we will soon have
the facility for you to upload photos directly to albums

Lots of news today so read on.....
1. Kite 4 Heroes
has been
postponed until later in the year due to the weather.
Hopefully the wind gods will allow this awesome race to
take place in September - watch this space!
2. To accommodate Kite 4 Heroes the Cyprus Kite Camp has
been cancelled. New dates and future events will
be announced shortly.
3. It is always good to see evidence of club members out on
the water. Check out Jon's handy new kite cam in HD!

Championships have shifted a week and
will now run from the 22-24 Oct 10 - riders of all
ability more than welcome and it's in Devon so no
massive trek to North Wales like last year!

place in Exmouth from 2-4 Jul 10. All club members
regardless of ability are encouraged to take part and
